Redeveloping The Guildford Institute

A New Guildford Institute for All

We are delighted with the progress made so far on the redevelopment works. Phase 1 of our project sees a brand new lift being installed into the building which will make all floors accessible to everyone – with the exception of the archives in our basement, where the lack of an emergency exit means that only staff members and volunteers will be able to use this area.

The Chairman Mike Adams helps get the redevelopment works underway

Our builders are doing a fantastic job of working within the considerable confines of the building and the space around it, and are doing their best not to be disruptive to events, courses, talks and study during the day.

Of course, all work has to be approved within our Grade II Listed status, and we have worked hard with our architects, builders and planning officials to make sure the overall integrity of the building is maintained.

Everyone who uses the Institute is very excited about the redevelopment work. Once finished, it will bring the Institute into the 21st century and allow us to offer much better facilities to members, visitors, organisations and businesses, all of whom are essential to building a thriving Institute for the future.
